Talent Corps is seeking an experienced Substation Electrician to join our team for a project in Houston, Tx, Atmore, AL & Spring Grove VA. This role involves maintaining, constructing, and retrofitting electric substation equipment as part of a dedicated crew. - Technical Skills:
- Deep knowledge of electrical systems, high-voltage equipment, and substation components.
- Understanding of time switches (such as programmable timers or time clocks) for controlling electrical circuits.
- Proficiency in welding for fabricating and repairing electrical bus systems (busbars).
- Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant safety standards.
- Skills in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical diagrams, and schematics.
- Experience with protective relays and other control systems in substations.
- Experience:
- Several years of hands-on experience working in substation environments.
- Experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of time switches and electrical components.
- Proficiency in bus welding, including knowledge of different metals and welding techniques.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in challenging conditions.
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform work in confined or elevated spaces.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Substation Work:
- Install, maintain, and repair high-voltage substations, including transformers, circuit breakers, and switches.
- Perform routine inspections of substation equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair control systems, including protective relays and switchgear.
- Perform testing and commissioning of electrical equipment within substations.
- Handle emergency repairs and assist in the restoration of power after outages.
- Time Switches:
- Install and program time switches to control lighting, HVAC, or other electrical circuits.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions in time switch systems and replace faulty components.
- Adjust settings for energy efficiency or user needs.
- Bus Welding:
- Perform welding on busbars, connecting conductors in electrical substations.
- Fabricate and repair bus structures used to carry electrical current within the substation.
- Follow strict welding protocols to ensure high-voltage systems remain safe and reliable.
- Inspect and maintain bus welds to avoid potential failures.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in substation work.
- Ability to build and retrofit substations.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
- Reliable and detail-oriented with strong teamwork skills.
