Position Summary : We are looking for a Lead Mechanic/Welder for our Night Shift to lead the most complicated maintenance projects of each night at our ferrous facility. You will complete hands-on maintenance projects and ensure proper safety guidelines are met. You will lead, mentor, and develop the maintenance team. You will report directly to the Night Maintenance Supervisor. Candidates with scrap metal, aggregate or mining experience are desirable. We offer great pay and benefits.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in field welding and industrial repairs.
- Must be capable of executing welds in all positions.
- Must be proficient with a wide variety of hand tools.
- Must be able to fabricate, repair or replace parts from scratch with or without blueprints.
- Minimum of 1 year experience supervising/leading a maintenance crew preferred.
- Experience repairing conveyor belts preferred.
Daily tasks will include:
- Welding, cutting and making repairs on structures, chutes and machinery.
- Troubleshooting and repairing conveyor belts.
- Changing bearings, gearboxes, idlers, sheaves, drive belts and pulleys, and hydraulic systems
- Leading maintenance crew to complete the most complicated tasks of the shift
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Uphold and enforce the policies of the company including safety and environmental as well as general company policy.
- Teach employees the proper ways to perform maintenance items and hold yourself and them to a high standard of work performance.
- Help grow our team’s abilities and confidence by passing on any knowledge to help team members become more successful.
- Under the direction of the Night Maintenance Supervisor, schedule maintenance projects to be done and communicate with the department.
- Ensure that the production plant is in a “ready to run state” at the end of the maintenance shift.
- Be trained in all support equipment as well as critical safety policies such as Lockout Tag Out, Fall Protection, and Confined Space.
- Help manage and maintain inventory of spare parts and tools.
- Be able to identify and troubleshoot issues with industrial equipment such as conveyors, feeders and screeners as well as hydraulic systems.
- Identify and determine the cause of problems; develop and present recommendations to the Night Maintenance Supervisor for improvement of established processes and practices.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) :

- This position requires strong leadership skills and knowledge of maintenance concepts.
- This position requires proficiency in hand tool usage, mechanical ability, some equipment operation, supervisor or lead experience, problem-solving, good handwriting and written communication.
- Typically requires a high school diploma/GED.
- Minimum of 1 year of maintenance supervisory/lead experience preferred.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently and in teams.

Pay: $30.00 - $33.50 per hour
