Lead Welder
We are seeking a Lead Welder to oversee our production weld team in this customer-focused industry.
A successful Lead Welder at WEBCO MFG plays a crucial role in overseeing the Weld process from start to finish. The areas the Lead Welder is responsible for include General Weld, Spot Weld, Boom Weld, and Final Inspection.

Skills/Requirements:
- 5+ years of Welding Experience
- 1-3 years of previous leadership experience
- ISO:9001 Knowledge preferred
Job duties:
- Supervision: The Lead Welder is responsible for overseeing the welding team, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring that deadlines are met.
- Quality Control: The Lead Welder ensures that all welded components meet quality standards and specifications. This involves inspecting finished products for defects and ensuring that proper procedures are followed throughout the weld process to maintain quality.
- Training and Development: The Lead Welder is responsible for training new team members and providing ongoing development opportunities for existing staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Resource Management: Manage resources such as materials, equipment, and manpower efficiently to optimize the weld process and minimize waste.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring that safety protocols and regulations are followed at all times is a crucial responsibility. This includes identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards in the manufacturing environment.
- Problem-solving: Lead Welder are often required to troubleshoot issues that arise during the welding process, whether they relate to equipment malfunctions, material defects, or other challenges.
- Communication: They serve as a liaison between the welding team and other departments, relaying important information, addressing concerns, and coordinating efforts to meet production requirements.
- Process Improvement: Continuously seeking opportunities to improve welding processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs is another important aspect of the role. This may involve implementing new technologies, refining procedures, and/or streamlining workflows.
- Documentation: Keeping accurate records of weld activities, including production metrics, quality inspection reports, and training records, is essential for tracking performance and ensuring accountability.
- Projects: Lead Welder will also be involved in large-scale project tasks. Monthly Gemba Walks will be conducted to identify improvement opportunities in the shop. Tasks will be divided out and deadlines set to ensure these projects are completed in a timely manner.
