Our Welders are responsible for welding and fabrication based on specific product drawing requirements for equipment to be used in the Mining and Mineral processing and the Oil and Gas industries.
Derrick Corporation has a standard work week of 47.5 hours, associates are paid overtime daily for anything over 8 hours.

Requirements:
- Read blueprints and/or CAD drawings to interpret custom specifications
- Familiarity working with multiple filler metals and shielding gas.
- Working with multi-fuel gas torching, plasma cutting, and grinding
- Ability to set up welding machine.
- Ability to take parts from raw fabricated form to a full weldment
- Meeting the dimensional and welding specifications laid out by the engineering drawings and work instructions
- Reading a tape measure, protractor, and/or other measuring device
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License required.
- Prior welding experience or completed welding certificate from a technical school.
- Ability to pass the WQTR (Welder Qualification Test Record) test specific to various Derrick welding procedures.
- Understanding of basic welding processes:
- GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW
- Mechanical aptitude to utilize hand tools and power tools.
- Flexibility to be cross-trained in other departments.
- Strong desire for safety practices and following company policies and procedures as they pertain to safety.
