Summary
Xymat Co, LLC is a privately held company headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO. We are a contract manufacturer of specialty containers for Department of Energy sites across the USA. We hold a unique certification and approved supplier status with many of these DoE sites. Welding, machining, assembly work is conducted on a project-by-project basis. We operated state-of-art welding equipment both manual and automated. Our ability to perform precession welding, machining and assembly has established an industry leading standard that is unmatched in this market sector. We are not your neighborhood fabrication shop working on carbon steel hardware. We work with high quality stainless steels and aerospace grade aluminum alloys. We have the only advanced friction stir welding capability west of the Mississippi in such a contract welding offering. Our team continues to develop innovative solutions that help our offering to the market sector and focus on penetrating into other markets, such as aerospace, alternative energy fabrication, and other commercial sectors.
The Welder contributes to the manufacturing of fabricated products in a fast-paced environment by interpreting engineering documents and utilizing modern welding equipment. Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities.
Expected Hours of Work
Hours of work and days are Monday through Thursday, 7:00am-4:30pm, Friday 7:00am-11:00am.
Overtime may be required.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Knowledgeable and skilled with Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). If not skilled in GTAW you will NOT be considered. Proof of previous GTAW certification is required preferably in the 6G position.
- MUST have experience in light gage stainless steel and plate thickness for aluminum.
- MUST have experience with welding aluminum with GTAW and GMAW.
- MUST have ability to pass 6G welder qualification test(s) using GTAW on plate and pipe per American Welding Society (AWS) codes on stainless-steel.
- Utilize and gain proficiency with tools such as tape measure, angle grinder, die grinder, clamps, hammers, manual plasma machine, cranes, and pipe layout tools to aid in the welding process.
- Ability to understand and satisfy job requirements based on work instructions, welding procedures, and Engineering documents (shop drawings) with welding symbols.
- Capable of fitting and welding simple to moderate weldments using shop math.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of welding equipment.
- Correctly and accurately completes job related paperwork such as travelers and checklists.
- Capable of cross functioning within department, and on occasions into other manufacturing departments based on production demands.
- Visually inspects own and team welds to ensure quality and determine basic discontinuities or defects, using inspection tools. Receives moderate guidance and instruction from qualified welding inspector to make inspection determinations.
- Attends welding, inspection, and job-related training and gains moderate proficiency in comprehension and application.
- Ability to work independently within established processes and procedures with relative supervision.

Qualifications
Education

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred: Associates Degree in Welding
Work Experience
Required: 5+ years of relevant working experience as a welder with proven direct experience with light gage stainless steel using GTAW is a must.
